At the bottom of this page is a list representative of words or phrases that illustrate values.

From the list, choose your personal top 10 values.

Then narrow your 10 down to your top five.

Using your five chosen values, create a simple activity for each word you could participate in during the next week to promote that value in your life–thereby making connections with others along the way.

For example, if you chose the value Service, your activity for the week could be to visit the Shellsburg American Legion Post 166’s weekly breakfast from 8 am-10 am–a goodwill offering garners you a delicious meal + time spent with our local service members.

Or perhaps one of your important values is Kindness. If you’re a parent or caregiver, challenge yourself to make the first thing you say in the morning to those you care for something uplifting and positive, something they will carry with them all day long.

A very simple activity for the value Curiosity–visit a local nature center, like the Benton County Nature Center, and watch the bird feeders from the comfort of the upper floor windows! Bring a friend or your child, or just make the trek alone & foster a new connection with your local naturalists!
